In 2005, Thortex, an Oregon-based manufacturer of orthopedic implants was busting at the seams with 85 employees in their Clackamas, Oregon facility.  Thortex secured our help to develop a solution to address long-term growth and a need for a modern facility.  Our overall knowledge of the many Portland-area submarkets led us to eventually negotiate the purchase of a 2.2 acre parcel located in the Airport Way industrial area of northeast Portland.  We quickly created a plan to design and build a new 32,000 square foot state-of-the-art factory equipped with the most updated and flexible systems possible, which would also include 5,000 square feet of two-story offices.

While our goal was to help Thortex in their ground-floor effort to secure a new facility at a reasonable cost, we added tremendous value to their bottom-line by targeting a designated Urban Renewal Area (URA) for site selection.  Upon site acquisition, we worked with the City of Portland and the Portland Development Commission to negotiate a generous relocation incentive package based on the available Quality Jobs Program.  Today Thortex operates out of their facility at NE 158th and Mason Court with 135 employees using the most modern air handling and dust filtration systems available, and they have the cleanest floor you'll ever see!
